Art Show 2014
The Glenside Lions Art Show is an annual event, held in May at the Burnside Ballroom and has been running most successfully for 22 years. Overall this event has raised in excess of $286,000 for community projects within the Burnside Council area as well as outside groups providing services to the community.
The funds raised come from commissions on sold works of art as well as entrance fees, opening night tickets and raffles of paintings.
Past beneficiaries have included:
- Cystic Fibrosis South Australia Inc
- SPELD Inc
- Mary Potter Foundation
- RDNS Foundation
- Burnside CFS
- Burnside Mobile Library
- Burnside Community Car
- Burnside Community Bus
- Operation Flinders
- Lions Hearing Dogs
- Eastwood Community Centre
The Glenside Lions Art Show is run totally by volunteers and has gained a reputation as one of the premier community art exhibitions in Adelaide. Usually over 400 works of art are on display and we have been fortunate with very healthy sales that generate a very sizable donation to the selected charity. The Art Show in 2007 was judged the Best Event in the Premier’s Community Service organisations Awards. This event also won the City of Burnside ‘Community Event of the Year’ at the Australia Day Awards in January 2000.
